DOMiEV ENGINE AND U'MKI Fdlv TbMaas Feet ol LasiWr AM U Alrtasy Big Lets The Callahan Brothers' sawmill, in the I'atton Valley district, was burned Saturday night, the (lames consuming mill, a donkey engine, and about fifty thousand feet of lumber. Commissioner Matteson says that the proprie tors were ready to move to an other location, and had cleaned everything up about the prem ises. Shortly after they left it was discovered that the entire roof of the building was ablaze There was no insurance, and the loss is a considerable one to the DroDrietorB. This is the third time that the Callahan Brothers have suffered a fire loss. Whether the fire was smoldering in the roof when the mill was left by the owners, or whether a spark from a near-by forest fire was responsible, is not known to a certainty. Fires have been raging in that section for a couple of weeks, and it is thought that the high wind of Saturday may have blown a cinder on the roof. The Callahans have enjoyed rather a good business, and will probably rebuild for operations next season. F. A. BAILEY, M.
